The albino alligator at the South Carolina Aquarium has a clean bill of health.
A dozen staffers at the Charleston aquarium gave a checkup Wednesday to Alabaster, the alligator which is thought to be one of only about 50 white alligators in the world.
The staff veterinarian weighed the alligator and drew blood. Alabaster weighs 161 pounds and is just over 8 feet long.
The alligator has been at the aquarium since 2009. Officials say they have to keep the animal because it is white and could not survive in the wild.
