Fans of Bin 152 were eager to say bonjour to Chez Nous, a new bistro from the wine bar's owners, Patrick and Fanny Panella. Located in the Cannonborough-Elliottborough neighborhood, the cozy restaurant is open for lunch and dinner every day but Monday. Chef Jill Mathias' menu "focuses exclusively on Southern French, Northern Italian and Northern Spanish cuisine," with the lineup of appetizers, entrees and desserts (6 to 8 in all) changing daily.
There isn't a website for the restaurant at 6 Payne Court, but its menu is posted each day at facebook.com/cheznouscharleston. Selections last week included mushroom-hazelnut salad; pan-seared triggerfish; goat cheese-stuffed peppers and butterscotch pudding. A word of warning: The menus are handwritten, and sometimes difficult to make out on a screen. For more information, call 579-3060.
