The Ravenel Bridge has been shut down after ice falling from its cables hit vehicles crossing the span this morning, the Mount Pleasant Police Department reported. An occupant of a vehicle heading into Mount Pleasant was injured when falling ice broke the windshield and flung glass into the motorist's eyes, according to rescuers' radio communications. The vehicle later stopped at a gas station along Coleman Boulevard, where emergency personnel responded before 10:30 a.m. The police closed the bridge to vehicle and pedestrian traffic minutes later. No further information on the injured person's condition was immediately known. Get the full story here.
