The case involving the shooting death of a man found in a ditch in Islandton will be handled by state investigators.
The State Law Enforcement Division will investigate because there are multiple jurisdictions involved and an uncertainty of where the shooting occurred, according to Colleton County sheriff's officials.
Deputies on Saturday responded to Ashton Road, a short distance from the Colleton and Hampton county line, officials said.
A man was found dead in a ditch, officials said. Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey identified him as Quentin Bunch, 29, of Fairfax.
Bunch had been shot several times, according to sheriff's officials.
Several agencies are working together to find out what happened, according to Colleton County Sheriff Andy Strickland.
Sheriff's officials are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact their office at 843-549-2211 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
