The Cherokee Nation filed court papers Friday claiming immunity from attempts to get more than $1million from the tribe in legal fees stemming from the Veronica adoption battle, according to the Tulsa World.

The papers, filed in Oklahoma on Friday, describe the claim for legal fees as “inappropriate, unreasonable and unconscionable.”

Sovereign immunity would not apply to Veronica’s birth father Dusten Brown, however, the paper reported. See story at: http://bit.ly/17XAop8
