New video coming for Dylan’s ‘Rolling Stone’
NEW YORK — Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone” is getting its first official music video, nearly 50 years after the song was released.
The interactive video will premiere on Dylan’s website Tuesday and marks the release of the new 47-disc box set, “The Complete Album Collection Volume 1.”
“Like a Rolling Stone” came out in 1965 and remains one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer-songwriter’s most influential songs.
The video will allow viewers to switch between 16 different story lines that mimic television channels.
Simon, Sondheim to share stage Dec. 3
NEW YORK — It is a triple billing for the ages, one night only: Paul Simon, Stephen Sondheim and Michael Chabon. The subject will be words and music.
Chabon, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, will host a discussion among himself and the two celebrated composers. Announced Monday by the MacDowell Colony for artists, the event will be Dec. 3 at the New Museum of Con-temporary Art in New York City.
Chabon is chairman of MacDowell, based in New Hampshire and one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious artist colonies.
Garth Brooks plans live broadcast of show
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Garth Brooks is taking his intimate one-man Las Vegas show to live television.
A news release issued Monday says CBS will broadcast Brooks’ performance at the Wynn Las Vegas live Nov. 29.
Brooks came out of retirement in 2009 for a series of occasional gigs at Steve Wynn’s invitation. Brooks formally ended that run after three years, but has played occasionally since then.
The broadcast will be his final performance of the show, which has mostly been Brooks with just his guitar exploring his musical influences with fans.
