Political newcomer Judy Bridge and former City Councilman Dwayne Buckner were the top two vote-getters in a six-person race for a seat on City Council Tuesday, but neither received the needed 50 percent plus one to avoid a runoff.
The two will face each other on Nov. 19.
In unofficial results, Bridge garnered 175 votes, roughly 29 percent of the votes cast, to Buckner’s 169, which was 28 percent. They were followed by Tony Hamilton (108 votes); Mack Thomas (71); Karen Hinen (57); and Nicole Holmes (32).
The election was held to fill the seat of the late Randy Peters.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Earlier versions of this story incorrectly stated that Bridge had won the race.
