A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car this morning on Sidneys Road in Colleton County. It happened at 6 a.m. near Chestnut Road, according to authorities. The pedestrian was walking in the roadway toward the flow of traffic, wearing dark clothing, according to Trooper Bridget Wyant. The pedestrian was not visible to the driver and the driver struck the pedestrian from behind, she said. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene, authorities said.
The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating.
