A plaque created by local artist and sculptor Marty Murray will be presented to John McKissick in honor of the legendary coach’s 600th victory.
The Summerville Exchange Club will present the plaque Nov. 5 to the 87-year-old McKissick, the Summerville High School coach who claimed his 600th victory last season.
Murray, a 1971 graduate of The Citadel and former U.S. Army captain, created the plaque as a replica of the ring produced by Jostens Ring Co. to honor McKissick. The limited edition plaque can be purchased (for $125 each) through the Exchange Club to support Summerville High School athletics.
“Each year, the Exchange Club raises money for the school, and this is their project this year,” said Murray. “It’s a way for fans to get involved, help the school and honor Coach McKissick.”
