The Highway Patrol has released details on the wreck that stopped eastbound traffic on I-26 near Summerville Tuesday afternoon.
Two vehicles wrecked about 4:45 p.m. near mile marker 200. Traffic was stopped while a medical helicopter was brought in.
A 2006 Ford handicapped transport van hit a 2005 Ford SUV, forcing both vehicles off the right side of the road and into some trees, according to Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant.
The SUV driver and a passenger were both taken to Medical University Hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the van was trapped and had to be extricated. She was taken to MUSC by helicopter.
The van driver, Jewel Boyd, 29, of North Charleston was cited for an improper lane change, Wyant said.
