A weekend drill for a group of Air Force reservists has been canceled due to the ongoing government shutdown, officials with Joint Base Charleston report.
The 315th Airlift Wing commander Col. James Fontanella canceled the monthly drill, a news release states. The cancellation will affect more than 1,400 reservists who were scheduled to undergo training this weekend.
In addition, officials canceled about 450 hotel rooms that would have been used by those attending the drill. The room reservations would have generated about $66,000 in revenue for local hotels, officials said.
The Airlift Wing will continue to partake in wartime tasks that were not affected by the shutdown.
