COLUMBIA – In one week, everything changed for South Carolina’s football team.
In a dominant, 52-7 blowout at Arkansas, the Gamecocks put together their best game of the season. Then they got help from everyone else in the SEC.
Florida lost to LSU. Georgia lost to Missouri. Missouri lost starting quarterback James Franklin for at least a couple weeks, including Oct. 26 when it hosts USC. Clearly, South Carolina was the big winner over the weekend.
It’s amazing how quickly things change in college football. Last week was about Jadeveon Clowney and controversy. Now, the questions change. No longer is USC’s star defensive being asked about his commitment to the team. No, the inquiry on everybody’s mind is if, on one perfect Saturday, the Gamecocks became favorites to win the SEC East.
