RE/MAX is quickly shedding its label as a small firm amid the Lowcountry’s string of real estate brands.
The international chain plans to increase its Lowcountry footprint to seven offices before the end of the year, according to Eddie Sturgeon, the company’s business development consultant for the Carolinas.
The franchise has five offices in the region, which includes the recent opening of RE/MAX Elite at 91-A Broad St, downtown Charleston, headed by broker-in-charge Bradley O’Mara, and RE/MAX Main Street Realty at 1112 N Main St., Summerville, headed by broker-in-charge Sam Broadway.
These new offices add to the locations in Mount Pleasant, West Ashley and North Charleston. Before the end of the year, the company plans to add RE/MAX Alliance at 1200 Two Island Court in Mount Pleasant and RE/MAX Full Sail, an office somewhere in the James Island/Folly Beach area, Sturgeon added.
He said the company is seeing strong growth potential in the Lowcountry, efforts fueled in-part by positive gains in the local housing market.
The trend goes beyond RE/MAX. Johnson & Wilson Real Estate Company recently opened an office at 207-B East 5th North St., Summerville.
The Charleston Trident Association of Realtors reported 741 real estate offices in the region in September, up from 696 for the same time in 2012. The Lowcountry lost several real estate offices during the recession, so this growth spurt marks some rebuilding on that front. The high was 918 brick-and-mortar locations in 2008.
Developers FrontDoor Communities and locally based Middle Street Partners say they are partnering to develop Freeman’s Point, a 42-acre waterfront master-planned community within Seaside Plantation off Secessionville Road on James Island.
Single-family detached homes will be priced in the high $300,000s.
Earlier this year, Altanta-based FrontDoor Communities unveiled a second wave of new homes to be built in the new Tributary community in RiverTowne Country Club off S.C. Highway 41 in Mount Pleasant.
Middle Street Partners of Sullivan’s Island was involved in the development of the 270-unit Cooper River Village apartment complex at the south end of Mathis Ferry Road, also in Mount Pleasant.
