Dragon Boat Charleston’s Senior Open team won its division and qualified to compete in the 2014 World Championships at the recent U.S. Dragon Boat Federation Club Crew National Championships held in West Windsor, N.J.
Dragon Boat Charleston’s Breast Cancer Survivor team finished third and won bronze at the event.
The Senior Open team was comprised of male and female paddlers 40 and older. The team included Debbie Carson, Kelly Hood, Jeff Hood, Steve Allen, Louise Graff, Leslie Kendall, Jim Graf, Madelyn Graf, Rene Wall, Tim Holbach, Kris Ritenour, Paul Huskey, Paul Sopko, Becca Gosnell, Nancy Holbach, Hazel Huff, Mickey Maw, Janice Nations and Cassie Salgado. The team was coached by John Radel.
The bronze medal-winning Dragon Boat Charleston Breast Cancer Survivor Team included Alice Turner, Noreen Powers, JoAnn Anthony, Deb Dutcher, Pat Arenson, Alice Bova, Sylvia Huskey, Jackie Dingle, Nancy Evans, Lois Randall, Kathy Penick, Lucy Spears, Barbara Moyer, Debbie Ponton, Fran Corbin, Joyce Rasberry, Vicki O’Neill, Cindy Greenwood, Cassie Salgado, Cathy Schneider, Janice Nations, Mickey Maw and Pam Allen. Noreen Powers was the coach.
