Families affected by furloughs and other financial impacts of the government shutdown may have to make sacrifices in the coming weeks, but visiting Patriots Point doesn’t have to be one of them.
The naval and maritime museum will offer half-price admission to federal employees and their families until Congress reaches an agreement on government funding. Attendees must present their federal identification cards to receive the discount.
“This is a just a small way we can reach out to those visitors whose day-to-days have been suddenly altered,” Executive Director Mac Burdette said.
Since the tourist attraction is a state agency and is not federally-funded, Patriots Point will continue operating as usual.
The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and tickets are sold until 5 p.m. For admission rates, visit http://patriotspoint.org/plan_your_visit/
