Ryan Nelson of Charleston won his fifth eGolf Tour title recently, chipping in for birdie on the second hole of sudden death. Nelson led the tournament, played at River Landing in Wallace, N.C., by two shots through three rounds but Will Collins of Salisbury, N.C., and Mikel Martinson of Lubbock, Texas, caught up to force the playoff at 20-under-par 268.
Nelson earned $13,500 and moved to No. 8 on the eGolf money list with $45,400 in 10 starts. Nelson, 35, played his college golf at the University of Portland. He and his wife moved to Charleston two years ago. Earlier this summer he qualified for his second U.S. Open.
