South Carolina and Clemson are off. It’s a swell Saturday for Palmetto State weddings and the ideal week to plunge into the Pigskin Picks mail, email and tweet bag:

When you and Warren disagree on games, is that really the way you feel? Or do you consult with each other first?

Awendaw Pete

Let me check with Warren on that.

I love your Pigskin Picks video previews on the website. But is Warren’s hair real?

Dean D.

Mount Pleasant

Absolutely. But mine isn’t.

Again, you both picked Nebraska last week. Again, the Huskers lost. Aren’t you always wrong on Nebraska?

S.C. Cornhuskers Club

I refer you to our spokesperson, Bo Pelini

Hey, guys, are you really considering picking sides in Premier League soccer?

@futbolfanatic22

A hot rumor for months now. And no.

Marching on to Week 4:

The Citadel at ODU

The Old Dominion Monarchs are transforming into FBS status. But back when they were eligible for the FCS playoffs, they weren’t known as the Caterpillars. If the Bulldogs win, it’s an upset. Some people think they’re up to it.

Sapakoff pick: The Citadel, 23-21

Peper pick: ODU, 27-21

CSU at Norfolk State

Just across Norfolk from the Citadel-ODU clash, the Bucs shoot for 4-0. Senior quarterback Malcolm Dixon has had two straight 100-yard rushing games. Here comes a Big South Conference contender.

Sapakoff pick: CSU, 28-24

Peper pick: CSU, 30-21

S.C. State vs. Benedict

No Gamecocks this week but Williams-Brice Stadium is busy with the Capital City Classic. The Bulldogs righted themselves last week with a 32-0 rout of Alabama A&M.

Sapakoff pick: S.C. State, 38-14

Peper pick: S.C. State, 35-17

North Carolina at Georgia Tech

Yellow Jackets QB Vad Lee threw — yes, threw — for four touchdown passes in a 38-14 victory over Duke.

Sapakoff pick: Georgia Tech, 28-21

Peper pick: North Carolina, 27-24

West Virginia at Maryland

Always hard to figure, these Big 12-Big Ten squabbles. Except that the Terrapins are still in the ACC, sort of.

Sapakoff pick: Maryland, 31-21

Peper pick: Maryland, 30-24

Pittsburgh at Duke

Dynamic freshman wide receiver Tyler Boyd is a star Pitt can build around as it tries to gain ACC credibility.

Sapakoff pick: Pitt, 28-27

Peper pick: Duke, 21-19

Auburn at LSU

Sadly, these two Tigers look like the best teams left on No. 1 Alabama’s wimpy schedule.

Sapakoff pick: LSU, 34-27

Peper pick: LSU, 30-17

Tennessee at Florida

Will Muschamp had two weeks to prepare for the Volunteers after a debacle in which the Gators outgained Miami 413 yards to 212 but lost, 21-16.

Sapakoff pick: Florida, 30-14

Peper pick: Florida, 31-14

Missouri at Indiana

Mizzou (2-0) can’t look ahead to Arkansas State if it wants to be the worst 4-0 team in the country going into an Oct. 5 game in which the Tigers are Vanderbilt’s homecoming foe.

Sapakoff pick: Missouri, 23-20

Peper pick: Missouri, 28-24

Mich. State at Notre Dame

Two fourth-quarter Tommy Rees TD passes to DaVaris Daniels stunned Purdue in Notre Dame’s 31-24 win.

Sapakoff pick: Notre Dame, 24-21

Peper pick: Notre Dame, 28-20

Last week: Sapakoff 8-2, Peper 6-4

Season: Peper 22-8, Sapakoff 20-10
