A mild earthquake rattled windows around Summerville about 3:15 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
The tremor measured 2.4 on the Richter scales and was centered about nine miles west of Summerville or six miles south southwest of Ridgeville, according to the Earthquake Information Center.
No damage was reported, according to the weather service.
Several small tremors have been recorded in the Summerville area over the last few weeks. A series of small quakes does not mean a bigger quake is on the way, according to seismologists who have been monitoring the tremors.
