Mount Pleasant police on Tuesday arrested a hotel guest accused of firing a gun outside the Extended Stay hotel on Wingo Way.
Police said Thomas Andrew Warren Jr., 63, of Farm Quarter Road, fired off a revolver near the hotel’s dumpsters around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
Warren told police that he fired a couple rounds into the air to see if the “ammo was still any good,” an incident report states.
Police charged Warren with unlawful carrying of a firearm, discharging a firearm within city limits, and possession of marijuana in connection with the incident, jail records show.
According to an incident report, Mount Pleasant police officers were called to the Extended Stay at 304 Wingo Way Tuesday night concerning reports of shots fired.
A woman at the hotel told police that Warren approached her earlier in the night and said “something was going to go down.” The man warned the woman to stay out of the way if she did not want to get hurt, the report states.
Police located Warren outside the hotel near the dumpsters. A revolver found on his person contained four spent rounds and two live rounds, police said.
Police did not find any bullet holes or signs of damage where the shooting occurred, the report states.
Marijuana was later found in Warren’s vehicle, police said.
Warren is being held at the Charleston County jail pending a bail hearing.
