Police on Wednesday arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a North Charleston motel.
Tyrone Habersham, 48, of Peacock Avenue in North Charleston, is charged with criminal sexual conduct in connection with the incident, jail records show.
North Charleston police responded to the Rodeway Inn on Dorchester Road about 3 p.m. concerning a woman having suicidal thoughts.
The 43-year-old woman told police that Habersham offered her a bus ticket to Charleston and a fresh start from a recent divorce.
The pair were staying at the motel Tuesday night when Habersham smoked crack and sexually assaulted the woman, an incident report states.
The woman reported that she later called police out of fear, police said.
Habersham is being held at the Charleston County jail pending a bond hearing, jail records show.
