The Charleston County Coroner’s Office today identified a 76-year-old woman who was fatally struck in a wreck at Northwoods Mall Tuesday morning.
Margarete Althausen of Goose Creek was leaving the Belk department store when she was hit by a black GMC Envoy in the crosswalk around 11 a.m., according to North Charleston police.
Althausen was transported to Medical University Hospital where she later died from trauma received in the incident, according to the Coroner’s Office.
The vehicle’s driver Raymond R. Clement, 32, of Aiken Street in Charleston, was charged with reckless homicide, according to police spokesman Spencer Pryor. He is being held in the Charleston County jail.
