North Charleston firefighters on Thursday extinguished flames at the Rodeway Inn motel.
Crews responded to 2311 Ashley Phosphate Road about 6:40 p.m. concerning smoke coming from the motel’s laundry room, department spokeswoman Bianca Sancic said.
Flames in the room were quickly extinguished and guests were evacuated from that area of the motel, Sancic said.
One firefighter was treated and released for a heat-related injury, Sancic said.
The fire’s cause remains under investigation.
