GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Clemson University is concerned about plans for a large church next to its automotive research center in Greenville.
The Greenville News reported the school is concerned about plans by NewSpring of Anderson to build a 1,400 seat church next to the International Center for Automotive Research along Interstate 85.
Miami developer Cliff Rosen says the 30-acre site is perfect. Rosen says most of the traffic at the church would occur Sunday, when there are fewer things going on at the research center.
Clemson spokeswoman Cathy Sams says the school’s partners in the research center expect the site to focus on education, research driven economic development and job creation.
She says the school supports NewSpring’s expansion but thinks the location is not a good fit.
