Alisha Owens has been named advertising director of The Post and Courier, the newspaper announced Friday.
Owens has been director of advertising for The Press of Atlantic City Media Group in New Jersey since February 2010.
She will begin her new role in Charleston in early September.
“We conducted a nationwide search and had a lot of interest,” said P.J. Browning, publisher of The Post and Courier. “I couldn’t be more pleased that we found someone the caliber of Alisha to lead The Post and Courier’s advertising department. I am excited about her passion for our industry and look forward to the great things to come.”
Owens joined the The Press of Atlantic City Media Group in 2002 and has held numerous leadership roles at the company since 2005, including online general manager. As director of advertising, she has led the convergence strategy of new digital media with traditional print media.
Her primary objectives have included increasing ad revenue and market share, profitability of the company’s products and services, management and staff development, design and creation of sales tools and sales accountability measures.
Owens also has identified new revenue streams through industry trends, best practices and customer-driven new product development. Additionally, she has been a member of the company’s executive leadership team and has played a primary role in its corporate innovation strategy.
Owens has a bachelor’s degree in business from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
The Post and Courier is South Carolina’s largest newspaper. It is owned by Charleston-based Evening Post Industries.
