Los Angeles Blues vs. Charleston Battery
What: USL Pro Playoffs
When: Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Blackbaud Stadium
Season series: Tied, 1-1-0.
Kickoff for the game is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Battery (13-7-6, 45 points) finished the regular-season as the third seed, while the Blues (11-8-7, 40 points) were the sixth seed.
The two teams split their home-and-home regular-season series this summer. The Blues won the most recent meeting between the two teams, 2-1, in Los Angeles, but the Battery blanked the Blues, 3-0, at home on July 27.
The Battery, the defending USL Pro champs, have been almost unbeatable at home this season, compiling a 9-1-4 record at Blackbaud Stadium. Only Orlando’s 11 home victories are more than the Battery’s this season.
“I think it will take a very good team to come in here and beat us at home,” said Charleston captain Colin Falvey.
The Battery earned a home field game late Friday night when the Charlotte Eagles tied the VSI Tampa Bay, 3-3, ensuring Charleston one of the top four seeds in the postseason. The Battery is currently the third seed, but can be passed if Harrisburg City either wins in regulation or earns a draw tonight against Dayton.
The Charleston Battery are the defending USL Pro champions, having defeated the Wilmington Hammerheads 1-0 in the 2012 Championship game to earn its fourth USL title.
