A North Charleston teen is behind bars, accused of raping a 4-year-old girl.
Myron Nevarez, 17, of Dorchester Road, is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 11.
A woman told North Charleston police that she left her daughter with Nevarez and his mother while she went to the store on Aug. 1.
When she returned, however, she found the teen alone with the 4-year-old girl.
The girl approached her mother as she walked through the door and complained of an injury, police said.
Before the woman could ask what happened, Nevarez interjected that the girl was bleeding because she fell on a toy airplane, an incident report states.
The woman took her daughter to a bathroom and asked her to explain what happened. The girl described being sexually assaulted, the report states.
Nevarez is being held at the Charleston County jail.
