A series of life skills workshops for women and adolescents will be held Aug. 24 at Greg Mathis Charter School, 2872 Azalea Drive, North Charleston.
The workshops are 9 a.m. to noon and are open to girls age 10 and older.
They are sponsored by CHOICES, a nonprofit organization that provides services for women, seniors and families in the tri-county area.
Workshops consist of four sessions: What would you do? (appropriate responses when stopped by law enforcement); Internet safety; bra sizing and dressing tips; and proper table setting etiquette.
In addition, Virginia College will be on site to offer nail care tips and polish touch-ups.
The nonprofit is collaborating with Belk Citadel Mall to collect gently used bras for women at a local women’s shelter.
Refreshments will be provided by Zaxby’s in West Ashley. Door prizes will be given away. The cost is $5.
Mothers (advocates or mentors) and daughters are asked to attend this workshop together.
To attend, RSVP to 763-1207 no later than Saturday.
