A group of Episcopalians in West Ashley has started a new congregation under the name St. Francis Episcopal Church. Its members have decided to remain with the The Episcopal Church in the wake of recent turmoil and schism that have left some local worshippers without a parish.
The new congregation of about 60 members will worship at 10 a.m. Sundays, beginning Aug. 18, at Stuhr’s Chapel in West Ashley, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. It also will start its Sunday School at 9 a.m. Aug. 18, with a cookout at West Ashley Park following the morning service.
