More than 300 anglers participated in the Charleston Coastal Anglers’ 30th Annual Fishing Tournament held out of James Island Yacht Club. Robert Olsen won the outstanding angler and outstanding male angler awards, while Caroline Chapman was the outstanding female and outstanding youth angler. Jimmy Mizell caught five bass that weighed 9.88 pounds, including the tournament’s big fish at 5.00 pounds, to win the Creekside Bassmasters tournament fished on the Cooper River out of Cypress Gardens. Ferris Jennings was second with five bass that weighed 9.63 pounds and Darrell Glenn third with five bass that weighed 9.19 pounds.
FISHING FOR MIRACLES
The 20th annual Fishing for Miracles King Mackerel Tournament will be fished Aug. 15-17 out of Ripley Light Yacht Club. Final registration begins at 2 p.m. Aug. 15 with the captain’s meeting starting at 7 p.m. Boats will fish Aug. 16-17 with weigh-ins beginning at 2 p.m. Aug. 16 and 1 p.m. Aug. 17. FLY TYING FOR FLATS FISHING

The inaugural Lured Home king mackerel and inshore fishing tournament will be fished Saturday. The captain’s meeting will be held Friday at Rogue Motion, located at 1411 Folly Road on James Island and the weigh-in also will be held at Rogue Motion. LIFEPOINT FISHING TOURNAMENT
The Lifepoint Hooked on Life catch and release fishing tournament will be held Aug. 10. Lifepoint is the designated Organ Procurement Organization for organ recovery services in South Carolina. Registration and captain’s meeting will be held from 6-9 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Charleston Maritime Center. Prizes will be awarded for the longest redfish, flounder and spotted sea trout. Goose Creek Bass Club will hold its final Summer Slam bass tournament series tournament Saturday on the Cooper River. The tournament will be fished out of Cypress Gardens Boat Ramp with blast-off at 5 p.m. and weigh-in at 9 p.m. The entry fee is $50, which includes $10 big fish.
