To a degree, leasing a condo in a planned neighborhood combines the independence of home-style living with the amenities of apartment digs.
Condo properties tend to rise in quiet, modest sized complexes since the residences are individually owned as places to live or as investments. At the same time, the surrounding community may offer attractions — such as swimming pools and walking trails — that are associated with apartment dwellings.
A case in point is 1307 Grove Park Drive. The second level living quarters is within a condo enclave at Grand Oaks Plantation off Bees Ferry Road.
“The home is clean and ready. The condo is lovely,” says Daryl Shorter, Realtor and broker-in-charge of Doug Shorter Property Management. “When you walk in, it’s very open. Everything is easily accessible,” he says.
Rent is $1,075 a month. For the time being, the property management firm is offering a “move-in special: $200 off the first month’s rent with a year’s lease.”
The property is in Grove Park, “its own condo community nestled in the back of Grand Oaks Plantation,” he says.
Shorter says the two bedroom, two bath condo stands out for its more-than-1,300-square-foot size, central location and high-end appointments. The property is a short drive from Bees Ferry Road, which serves as a connecting thoroughfare to Savannah Highway, Ashley River Road and Glenn McConnell Parkway. Downtown Charleston is 10-15 minutes away, he says. There’s two spaces of off-street parking.
Shorter describes the property as spacious, serving up such accoutrements as a kitchen range, built-in microwave oven, refrigerator-freezer and dishwasher. The condo showcases a screened-in porch; washer and dryer connections and central heating and air conditioning. Meanwhile, the bath off the master bedroom boasts a garden tub, separate shower and double vanity.
“I really like that the carpet is in excellent condition, it has a nice screened-in back porch and the kitchen is very modern,” Shorter says.
Grove Park’s location is convenient to West Ashley and will take you to North Charleston within minutes via Interstate 526, he says.
Applicants can apply online through the property management company’s website and the application is processed instantly. “This is a new feature we’re proud to offer,” Shorter says.
“Enjoy the community walking trails and swimming pool, now that the weather is warm,” he says.
The property is toward the northern edge of Grand Oaks Plantation. Heading west, take S.C. Highway 61, which is St. Andrews Boulevard and then Ashley River Road. Bear left onto Paul Cantrell Boulevard-Glenn McConnell Parkway. Continue close to five miles to Bees Ferry Road. Turn left on Bees Ferry, then make a right on Grand Oaks Way. After close to a mile, make a right on Maple Boulevard. Turn left onto Grove Park Drive. Ahead is 1307 Grove Park Drive.
