A Summerville boat maker is broadening its sales range to new places in the Atlantic, Gulf and Midwest and to a preserve near Hilton Head Island.
Scout Boats Inc. added four dealers this year, the company said. They include two outlets in Florida, a new dealer in Wisconsin and a venture in Puerto Rico.
“We’re pleased to be partnered with these outstanding dealerships,” said Alan Lang, national/international sales manager for Scout Boats. “The additions in Florida, Wisconsin and Puerto Rico will help us penetrate further those important markets.”
The outlets include Cal Marine LLC in Sister Bay, Wisc., and Industrial & Marine Service Inc. in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Also offering Scout Boats are Walkers Marine dealers in Marco Island and Fort Myers, both in Florida.
Also this month, Scout Boats said it delivered four Scout 210 Dorado models to Palmetto Bluff, the touted 20,000-acre nature preserve and resort in the Hilton Head-Bluffton area. Palmetto Bluff’s dry stack marina, Wilson Landing is on the May River and offers quick access to Lowcountry waterways, the boat builder said.
The facility includes 80 racks handling boats up to 36 feet, a dock with six platform lifts, an outfitters center and the Boat Club rental program. The Scout models are part of the rental plan.
Chris Story, captain and supervisor of Wilson Landing Marina, explained, “We’ve experienced a growing demand to expand and update our current private Boat Club fleet, so we began a search for a boat that would meet all our particular needs.”
Those requirements were “a vessel that could easily operate under a wide range of experience levels — from folks just getting their feet wet, to seasoned veterans,” Story said. “We also required a boat that could meet the varying needs of a boat club program; fishing, skiing, cruising, sand baring … while being able to give eight passengers a comfortable, dry ride in less than perfect conditions,” he said.
After a search, the marina chose Scout Boats and the 210 Dorado. Story said the Boat Club members “love the ample cockpit space, versatility, ease of control and comfortable ride.” He also cited the “power” of the Yamaha 150 horsepower outboard motor.
“We’re pleased to have the opportunity to provide these Scout models to Palmetto Bluff and the facility at Wilson Landing,” Lang said. Scout builds sportfishing, fish ’n ski, walk around, flats and bay boat models 15-35 feet in length. For more information, visit www.scoutboats.com.
