More than 120 airmen from the 16th Airlift Squadron from Joint Base Charleston are expected to return home Tuesday from a 60-day deployment in Southwest Asia.

While deployed, the personnel served under the 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron supporting overseas contingency operations.

Flying and supporting the C-17 Globemaster III, crews took part in 1,000 sorties, logged more than 2,500 combat flying hours and airlifted more than 36 million pounds of cargo and more than 4,000 personnel throughout Southwest Asia, the Air Force said. Their overseas station was not disclosed.
