How about a baseball autographed by Reggie Jackson?
Or Darius Rucker.
Alice Cooper, anyone?
Perhaps you prefer traveling to Disney World, New York City, New Orleans, Washington or Cooperstown.
The Charleston RiverDogs’ popular annual “Kindness Beats Blindness RP Auction” offers all that and lots more. The 14th annual event is Saturday before and during the RiverDogs’ game against the Hickory Crawdads at Riley Park.
The auction and matching funds has raised over $500,000 to prevent the loss of sight in a fight against Retinitis Pigmentosa, a disease that has affected Rebecca Veeck, daughter of RiverDogs President Mike Veeck. Once again this year, proceeds go to MUSC’s Storm Eye Institute.
Many auctions offer museum memberships, ballet classes, gym memberships, gift baskets, golf outings, dog grooming, dinners and hotel stays. Yes, the RiverDogs have that - plus, fishing trips, haircuts and a helicopter ride.
But the sports fans will appreciate a stacked “Kindness Beats Blindness” lineup featuring items signed by players, coaches and music stars and RiverDogs co-owner/film star Bill Murray.
