•Test drive to battle hunger•

Palmetto Ford Lincoln is hosting an event where shoppers can tool around in a new car, eat their fill and jam to music while assisting a local charity.

According to the Savannah Highway dealership, Lincoln will be giving $20 to the Lowcountry Food Bank for every registered test drive 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today. All Lincoln models are included in the promotion. New cars include the MKS sedan, MKT wagon, MKZ sedan and hybrid and Navigator SUV.

Also today, DJ Party Dad will be playing music (visit www.soundcloud.com/partydad for more information); and participating food trucks Dulce, Autobahn, Roadside Seafood, Cast Iron and Outta My Huevos will be donating a portion of their proceeds to the local food bank.

Also, people are urged to go to www.lowcountryfoodbank.org to find out how to partner with Lowcountry Food Bank and Palmetto Ford Lincoln “to help end hunger for those in need.”

•Carbo loading•

A Father’s Day “Carbs and Carbs” cruise-in brought a decent turnout of sports cars and motorcycles to Bacco restaurant in Mount Pleasant.

Michael Scognamiglio, owner and chef at Bacco, said he was pleased with the event. About 10 models took part including Porsche, Mercedes and Scognamiglio’s own Fiat convertible as well as a Moto Guzzi cycle.

The restaurateur-car enthusiast is planning the next cruise-in for the fall. He launched the idea last year, coming up with the name from carbohydrates — a foodie term — and carburetor, popular with gearheads.
