FLORENCE — Trevonte Dixon of Florence, who played for the College of Charleston the last two seasons, transferred to Francis Marion.
Dixon, a 6-4 swingman, will have two years of eligibility at Francis Marion. He appeared in 39 games over the past two seasons for the Cougars. He played in 20 games this past season for a 24-11 squad that advanced to the postseason College Basketball Invitational Tournament.
Dixon was a member of the 2007 Class AAA state championship squad at Wilson High School before playing his junior and senior prep seasons at Christ School in North Carolina.
“We have known Trevonte for years, and have always regarded him as an outstanding young man and basketball player,” said Francis Marion coach Gary Edwards. “This is an outstanding opportunity for Trevonte to make a significant impact on his hometown team.”
