Lorna Colbert, mother of comedian Stephen Colbert, dies at 92

Lorna Colbert, whose children included political satirist Stephen Colbert and former congressional candidate Elizabeth Colbert Busch, died Wednesday after a long illness.

Lorna Elizabeth Tuck Colbert, who lived in Charleston, was the widow of Dr. James William Colbert, Jr. She lost her husband and two sons in a plane crash in Charlotte in 1974

She was born in Larchmont, N.Y. in 1920, a daughter of Andrew Edward and Marie Elizabeth Fee Tuck.

According to a funeral notice in today’s edition of The Post and Courier, she was an accomplished artist, a church leader, a businesswoman, a supporter of the arts and a woman of profound faith.

Arrangements are being handled by James A. McAlister Funerals and Cremation.
