MOUNT PLEASANT — A Memorial Day observance at the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum on Charleston Harbor won’t have a speaker.
Instead, members of the audience are being asked to come forward and say a few words about someone who died for the nation during the event today at the Vietnam Support Base at the museum in Mount Pleasant.
Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette says the idea is to make the observance more personal.
Those who don’t want to speak can simply mention the name of the person they would like to be remembered.
