DURHAM, N.C. — Bryan Radziewski and Eric Nedeljkovic combined on a four-hit shutout to lead Miami to a 7-0 victory over Clemson in the ACC Tournament in front of 3,206 fans at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Hurricanes (36-23) went 1-2 in the ACC tournament, while the Tigers (39-20), coming off a 12-7 loss in 14 innings to North Carolina the night before, went 0-3.
Radziewski (9-2) threw 92 pitches over eight innings, allowing just four hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Radziewski retired 11 Tigers in a row from the third inning through the sixth inning. Nedeljkovic pitched a perfect ninth with one strikeout.
Clate Schmidt (3-4), the first of six Tiger pitchers, yielded three hits, three runs and two walks in 11/3 innings.
The Hurricanes took the quick lead on a two-run double by Brad Fieger in the first inning.
Miami tacked on a run in the second on a sacrifice fly by Alex Hernandez and another in the fifth on an RBI single by David Thompson to make it 4-0.
Single runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings completed the scoring for Miami.
Steven Duggar had two of Clemson’s four hits in the game.
Clemson will await word from the NCAA Baseball Committee on the 16 host sites. That announcement will be made at NCAA.com/CWS at approximately 9 p.m. today.
The 64-team NCAA tournament field will be announced Monday at noon on ESPNU.
