Buoyed by Joe Jackson’s dramatic walk-off home run on Wednesday, The Citadel takes on regular-season champion Western Carolina today in the winners’ bracket of the Southern Conference baseball tournament.
Due to weather problems Wednesday night, today’s game has been switched to a scheduled start of 5 p.m. at Fluor Field in Greenville.
Jackson’s ninth-inning homer lifted the fourth-seeded Bulldogs to a 6-5 win over No. 5 Appalachian State on Wednesday. No. 1 Western Carolina cruised to a 13-7 win over No. 8 Samford.
The Citadel (33-24) lost two of three at Western Carolina (39-18) during the regular season, each game decided by one run.
“The Citadel is a great program,” said WCU coach Bobby Moranda. “They know how to do their job and know what they’re doing, so it should be fun.”
