Charleston Southern sophomore Bobby Ison and junior Zack Hagaman were named to the All-Big South Conference first team, and pitcher Tory Schroff made the second team.
Shortstop Alex Tomasovich was named to the Big South All-Academic Team for the Buccaneers, who open the conference tournament against top-seeded Campbell at 4:30 p.m. today.
Ison, a sophomore from Goose Creek, earned first team honors in the outfield. He led led the Big South in hits with 81 and led the Bucs in batting at .367 and doubles (14). He also had 27 RBIs and nine stolen bases.
Ison also led NCAA Division I as being the toughest player to strike out. In 246 plate appearances, he struck out just five times (once every 26 at-bats).
Hagaman hit six home runs with 28 RBIs and a team-high .516 slugging percentage at designated hitter.
Schroff led the Bucs with a 3.30 ERA in 732/3 innings.
VMI outfielder Rob Dickinson was voted Big South player of the year. Campbell’s Greg Goff was tabbed coach of the year, Campbell’s Ryan Thompson pitcher of the year and Coastal Carolina pitcher Seth Lamando freshman of the year.
