The Medical University of South Carolina is hosting its 14th family-friend Hurricane Awareness Day on Wednesday in an effort to help Lowcountry residents prepare for the official start of Atlantic hurricane season on June 1.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts the 2013 season will be “above normal,” with 12 to 18 named storms and 6 to 10 of them becoming hurricanes.
MUSC’s Hurricane Awareness Day will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow in the MUSC Horseshoe on Ashley Avenue.
The event will include a panel of experts as well as representatives from NOAA and the American Red Cross.
