FORT MILL — A Charlotte high school teacher plans to press charges against a student she accuses of hitting her in the face during an amusement park field trip.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports that the incident happened earlier this month while students and teachers from Charlotte’s Vance High School waited to enter Carowinds.
A report by the York County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina says the 39-year-old teacher reported she told the 18-year-old student she’d have to wait to get off the group’s bus and use the bathroom. The student yelled profanities and threatened to slap the teacher.
The report says the student later hit the teacher in the face with a mobile phone in her hand, causing the teacher’s lip to swell.
