SUMMERTON — Colleton Prep wrapped up the SCISA Class A softball state championship with a 4-2 victory over Clarendon Hall on Tuesday.
It was the fifth state title since 2002 for the War Hawks, who made their fourth appearance in the state in five years and ninth in the last 12 years.
Kendall Jumper got the win for the War Hawks, who finished with a 13-game winning streak and a 27-5 record. She pitched a three-hitter and struck out six as the War Hawks beat Clarendon for the fourth time this season.
The War Hawks picked up two runs in the top of the first and two more in the second. Clarendon Hall scored both of its runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Jumper, who went 4 for 4 at the plate, got the scoring started in the first with an RBI single. Madeline Hill produced the other run with a bases-loaded walk.
Laura Reynolds made it 3-0 with an RBI double in the top of the top of the second. She went 2 for 2. Jumper closed out the scoring for the War Hawks with an RBI single.
The War Hawks won the first game of the series, 5-1, as Jumper pitched a four-hitter and struck out 12.
