North Charleston Police Department’s SWAT team took a man into custody after a shotgun was fired at a home on Salamander Creek Lane on Wednesday night.
Mervin Brown, 53, of Salamander Creek Lane, is charged with discharging a firearm within city limits. Salamander Creek Lane is in a residential neighborhood off Otranto Road.
Officers were dispatched to Brown’s home shortly after 10 p.m. on Wednesday, an incident report states.
Several spent and unspent shotgun shells were found in front of the home and in its backyard, police said.
Officers while searching the backyard spotted a man standing inside a bathroom inside the home with a light on.
SWAT team members took the man into custody.
Brown is being held at the Charleston County jail, according to jail records.
