At least two people were shot during an apparent home invasion at a house in Ladson late Friday, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
About 11:45 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a house on Kirkwall Drive for a report of a home invasion, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office. The house is in the Buckshire subdivision, off Miles Jamison Road.
When deputies arrived, a woman who described herself as an acquaintance of the homeowner reported that she and her boyfriend were visiting the homeowner when two men forced their way into the house through the garage door. She said gunshots were exchanged between the homeowner and the two suspects.
During the exchange of gunfire, her boyfriend and the homeowner were shot, according to the release. The two victims were taken by EMS to Medical University Hospital, the release said. Their condition was not reported.
The two men who were allegedly breaking into the home had fled the scene by the time deputies arrived. It was not known if they had suffered any injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office did not release the identity of the victims or of the homeowner.
