A hazy mist from an air-conditioner caused fire trucks to race to a West Ashley nursing center and some residents to be evacuated Thursday night.
Firefighters got a call to Heartland of West Ashley Rehab & Nursing Center at 1137 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. about 7:14 p.m., Charleston Fire Battalion Chief Mike Julazadeh said. Units from Charleston, North Charleston, and Saint Andrews Fire departments responded.
Several residents were evacuated while firefighters searched the building. They discovered a light haze on the second floor, which was believed to be from an air-conditioning unit and dissipated, Julazedah said.
