Charleston police officers are searching for a man who robbed a Kangaroo gas station on Johns Island at gunpoint on Tuesday night.
Officers were dispatched shortly after 11 p.m. to the gas station, 1786 Man Road, concerning an armed robbery, an incident report states.
A 51-year-old clerk at the store told officers that he was outside handling old newspapers when a man walked up behind him and placed a silver pistol at his head.
The gunman forced the clerk to walk back into the store and place all of a register’s cash into a paper bag, according to the report. The man also stole a 10 packs of Newport cigarettes before fleeing the store, police said.
Officers described the gunman as a black man between 20 and 30, about 6 feet tall, wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and tube socks over his hands.
