Hanahan High School product Ashton Jarrett, who plays second base for College of Charleston’s softball team, was named to the All-Southern Conference team Monday.
Jarrett, a senior, was joined on the first-team All-SoCon squad by pitcher Hope Klicker, first baseman Chandler Frisbie and third baseman Kelsey Hodgson.
Pitcher Stephanie Saylors made the second team, and Frisbie and Becca Mueller were named to the all-freshman squad.
College of Charleston (34-18, 15-8 SoCon) enters the SoCon tournament as the No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 Western Carolina in the opening round on Wednesday at UNC Greensboro.
Freshman Josh Lorenzetti and junior Alex Ellis will represent the College of Charleston men’s golf team in NCAA Regional play May 16-18 at The University Club in Baton Rouge, La.
Lorenzetti got an automatic bid to the regionals by winning medalist honors at the Southern Conference championship. Ellis, who earned All-Conference honors, received an at-large bid as an individual in the field.
Lady Bulldogs clinic
The Citadel Football Association opened registration for the fourth annual Lady Bulldogs Football 101 clinic, which will be held on Friday, July 26 on The Citadel campus.
The clinic is open to women and teenage girls with a cost of $50 per person or two for $85. Register online at www.cfabulldogs.org. Those attending will receive a goody bag, T-shirt and two tickets to The Citadel-Charleston Southern football game on Aug. 31.
