Mount Pleasant Towne Centre will soon see two new tenants and the reshuffling of two others to make way for the Belk department store expansion.
Soma Intimates lingerie shop is taking 2,800 square feet in the former Talbots Boutique at 1239-A Belk Drive. It should be open by June, said Towne Centre spokeswoman Kristi Tolley. The boutique has merged with a nearby Talbots shop on Market Centre Boulevard.
Also on the way is Zoes Kitchen, which is taking about 3,000 square feet of the existing Coldwater Creek store at 1242 Belk Drive. Coldwater Creek is downsizing to 5,000 square feet by October.
Chucktown Chicks relocated to 1329 Theater Drive. Hershon Orthodontics is moving in June from 1108 Market Centre to the old Charleston Creamery at 1640 Palmetto Grande Drive.
Keeping mom happy
Spending on moms this Mother's Day will rise 11 percent over last year, according to the National Retail Federation. Consumers will spend an average of $168.94. Total spending will reach $20.7 billion.
TJ's Beef & Brew has picked the Publix-anchored Shoppes at Summerville at Central Avenue and Orangeburg Road for its second local restaurant. It will be 2,800 square feet, according to Trey Lucy and Blair Belk of the real estate firm Lincoln Harris. Look for an opening in about two weeks.
I'On Tile Gallery has opened at 357 N. Shelmore Blvd. in Mount Pleasant. Owners Georgia and Jeff Ribeiro sell, design and install kitchen, bathroom and pool tiles.
Charleston Gold & Diamond Exchange is adding a shop in a former Blockbuster video store on North Main Street in Summerville. Look for a mid-summer opening.
