CLOVER, S.C. (AP) — A North Carolina woman says she made the best choice she could to help her mentally ill son by helping South Carolina officers with his arrest.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports Karen Brown last month reported to Anson County deputies that her 20-year-old son broke into a trailer at her North Carolina home and stole her guns. She says her son stopped taking medicine to treat his bipolar disorder three years ago.
Brown says she was left with no choice since lacking intervention from law enforcement, there’s no one who can force an adult to stay on medications or get counseling.
Andrew Ross-Dowd Brown was arrested last month after a conversation with his mother led to a school lockdown in Clover.
